Vredenburg yard Sachal has rolled out another eye-catching commercial fishing vessel, with two others currently in production.

The latest build is purpose-built for the commercial tuna fishing sector and can support a crew of 12 on trips of up to nine days. Interior features include a fully equipped galley, two heads (toilets), and dedicated skipper accommodation in the wheelhouse.

“Despite its capacity and capability, the vessel remains under 25 Gross Tons (GT), making it cost-effective to crew and operate, and ideal for smaller operators or owner-skippers,” the company says in a launch statement. The design process focused on functionality, durability and crew endurance,” the company says.

The vessel has a Baudouin 280hp main engine, with onboard power supplied by a 80kVA Iveco generator. “The vessel’s power management system is fully integrated with Victron Energy products, offering efficient energy distribution and control. The tuna spray system is powered via Victron inverters, allowing spray operation without any engines or generators running, greatly enhancing fuel economy and reducing noise during fishing operations,” Sachal says.

“We have another similar vessel in build due for launch in Q3 2025 and a 27m state of the art pelagic vessel in-build due Q1 2026.”
