GLOBAL SURGE IN SUPERYACHT CONSTRUCTION
The number of superyachts under construction worldwide has risen by 17,5% year-on-year, with the biggest increase in the smaller superyacht sector (between 24 and 27 metres), according to an article published by Boating World. The smaller superyacht sector surged 25%, while the overall figure increased from 1024 in 2022, to 1203 for 2023, the report says.
The figures are based on Boat International’s Global Order Book, which sees Azimut /Benetti Group continue their reign as the world’s #1 superyacht builder.
Boating World also flagged various expected trends for 2023, including the rise of dayboat models “as major shipyards cater to the growing demand”.
Another trend is ‘eco-conscious’ vessels as boat yards adopt new propulsion systems including hybrid and electric.Luxury yacht re-sales are also set to increase in 2023, Boating World says.
