SABBEX urges members to step up onto the global stage

For the first time in years South Africa will have its own National Pavilion at the Miami Boat Show.  SABBEX is urging local builders to maximise their exposure at next year’s international showcase, which promises to be a bumper edition due to resurgent market conditions, particularly in the US.

“This is exciting as we will be showcasing what South Africa has to offer in terms of leisure boatbuilding, manufacturing, services and ocean sports,” said SABBEX’s Thina Qutywa. “We will also be promoting South Africa as a destination for tourists.”

Billed as one of the world’s largest international boat shows, next year’s edition takes place between Feb 16 – 20.  It’s so big it is held across four separate venues, including the iconic Miami Beach Convention Centre.

The South African National Pavilion is being sponsored by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition. “SABBEX has been in communication with Mr V Makhele & Mr S Maboane of the DTIC regarding preparation for the National Pavilion,” Qutywa said. “The deadline for applications to go in to the DTIC to be part of the exhibition is the 16th of September 2021. We’re excited to see everyone there.”
