Another month, another milestone for local boatbuilding with the launch of the first Askari 65.

The Askari 65 Power Long Range Cruiser is a unique aluminium luxury power yacht, with its sights firmly set on the export market. The project is a collaboration between Du Toit Yacht Design and SA boat builders Craig Hulbert, Chris James, and James Felgate. The project team is slowly growing the Askari range, which also includes the Askari 55 Performance Adventure Catamaran.

Features of the New Askari 65:

  • Length: 65 feet
  • Construction: Aluminium
  • Cabins: Four double en-suite cabins (customisable to three cabins plus a crew quarter)
  • Crew Quarters: Separate accommodation for crew
  • Cruising Speed: 10 knots
  • Maximum Speed: 16 knots

  • Range: 2,500 nautical miles at 10 knots to 3,900 nautical miles at 6 knots

“The Askari 65 is a very special project because it brings together capability, comfort, serviceability and long-term ownership,” commented Anton du Toit of Du Toit Yacht Design. “Aluminium gives us the freedom to create a vessel that is strong, practical and highly customised around the way her owners intend to use her. Seeing her launched is incredibly rewarding.”

James Felgate of Askari Yachts added: “Launching the first Askari 65 is a proud day for everyone involved. This has been a detailed, hands-on build, and every stage has required skill, craftsmanship and precision.”
