Another month, another crop of new boat models from the South African boatbuilding sector.

October saw more boating eye-candy coming out of local yards, with headline honours shared by two Cape Town yards – Hammer and Balance.

Hammer Yachts directors Francois van der Merwe and US-based Peter Wiersema spent time at the V&A Waterfront, putting the finishing touches to the new walkaround HammerCat 35 HH (Hard Hat). As with previous models, their latest edition is geared for the US sports fishing market but comes with more space. It is the fourth model in the Hammer range of semi-custom power catamarans.

Balance Catamarans have also extended their range with their third new model of the year, the Balance 502, which is a successor to the Balance 482.

“This moment represents more than the splash of a new catamaran though because it’s the culmination of years of innovation, craftsmanship, and collaboration that it took to thoughtfully build upon the very successful 482 model,” the company said in a website news update.
