All those concerned about their carbon footprint can now enjoy Cape Town’s waterways guilt free. The Mother City, always a trendsetter in urban innovation, has more green energy bragging rights, thanks to the first fully-electric commercial boat.
The 32-seater boat berths right outside the One and Only Hotel at the V&A Waterfront, embarking passengers for sight-seeing tours of the waterways linking the V&A to the city centre.
“We are thrilled to introduce this cutting-edge technology to Cape Town’s waters,” said Claus Tworeck, CEO of City Sightseeing South Africa which has brought the boat to market. “Our electric boat is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and our dedication to preserving the natural beauty of our marine environment.”
