Never a dull moment in South African boatbuilding. A bumper crop of new designs and production milestones have made headlines over the past few weeks.
Balance Catamarans has commenced tooling for their new Balance 540, billed as a modernised version of their flagship 526.
Kinetic Catamarans are also expanding their fleet with the new K6, which features both a 63’ and 67’ version. K6 production is scheduled to start in January next year, the company said in a news update.
Meanwhile, Gemini Marine reports a landmark deal in East Africa with the delivery of 11 Waverider 7.2m Professional RIBs to the Tanzania Police Force. “This project shows the trust agencies place in our boats to perform in some of the most demanding environments in the world,” said Gemini chief executive Gerhard Neethling of the market expansion. “Always grateful to see repeat business from African governments — it’s the strongest compliment to the durability and reliability of our RIBs.”
September also ushered in a new-look Southern Wind brand identity. The sailing superyacht specialists last week unveiled their rebrand under the banner of ‘The Perfect Balance’, along with a streamlined new logo.
