There are still a few days left to comment on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront’s new-look Granger Bay development, now detailed in a draft scoping report released last month for public comment.
The ambitious project envisages a reshaped section of shoreline on the V&A’s western flank. Key features include:
– a sheltered bay formed by two new breakwaters
– a section of reclaimed land to accommodate a mixed-use development
– a public access walkway
The scoping report forms part of the V&A’s environmental authorisation application.
“A revetment connecting the two breakwaters will be approximately 540 metres long,” the report says in its project summary. “New public amenities will include the new bay, providing sheltered waters for boating, kayaking, and swimming. Land-based amenities will include a coastal public walkway, a slipway, a fixed quayside, a landscaped promenade, tidal pools, pedestrian paths and open areas. The proposed revetment and breakwater will be constructed in phases over approximately 3 years.”
The 30-day comment period will commence on Thursday, 31 July 2025, and end on Monday, 1 September 2025.
