Newly established Askari Yachts have announced themselves in style with an aluminium long-range cruiser, currently in production in their Montague Gardens facility.
Askari specialises in aluminium power yachts and sailing catamarans. The company says their signature 65’ mono hull long range cruiser is nearing completion, while work is due to soon begin on a range of aluminium expedition sailing catamarans designed by Anton du Toit. The sailing catamaran range will include a 50, 55’ and 60’ model.
“We choose marine-grade aluminium for its remarkable strength, minimal maintenance requirements, enduring value, and design versatility,” Askari said in a launch statement. “Recognizing that every owner has a unique vision for their time at sea, each Askari yacht is fully customisable to perfectly complement each owner’s individual cruising aspirations and onboard lifestyle.”
“We are proud to collaborate with Du Toit Yacht Design, a leading naval architecture studio in the Southern Hemisphere. Renowned for designing more catamaran tonnage and length than any other regional studio, their award-winning expertise ensures that every Askari yacht harmoniously blends exceptional hydrodynamic performance with stunning and practical design,” the company says.
Askari features some well-known figures in the local marine manufacturing sector, namely Craig Hulbert , Chris James, and James Felgate. They intend using their collective experience – notably in marine systems integration, composite booms, and custom yacht manufacturing – to broaden South Africa’s already impressive range of top-class recreational boats.
