As if Cape Town wasn’t attractive enough, the Tavern of the Seas is currently attracting some of the world’s top boating eye-candy.
A case in point is the 160m Blue, spotted in the Port of Cape Town last week, along with a fleet of other noteworthy vessels. Blue is owned by one of the world’s richest men, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan, a member of the Abu Dhabi Royal Family.
By any standard Blue is a floating palace, although good luck parking her at your local yacht club.
For those with more modest tastes there were other impressive vessels on view in Cape Town this week, among them Yersin Yacht, described as a ‘pure pedigree expedition cruiser’. The 44m motor yacht Dolce was a further addition to the Port’s VIP guest list, a relative minnow compared with Sheikh Mansour’s ride.
All in all, not a bad line-up for Cape Town ahead of the inaugural African Boating Conference in October, where superyachts will be a major topic of discussion. One of the Conference keynote speakers is Anders Kurten, Fraser Yachts CEO and a leading authority on superyacht management.
Expect to see a lot more superyacht eye-candy floating nearby in years to come.
