The ever-expanding Balance Catamarans have bolstered their carpentry team with the promotion of Brendan Nepgen to oversee work on the Balance 526 production line at the Nexus Yard in St Francis Bay. Brendan succeeds Andrew Butler, aka “Chippy”, the Head of Carpentry who has moved across to take charge of the incoming Balance 580, the company says in their latest newsletter update.
“Despite being a fresh face in the department, Brendan is no stranger to the Balance family. His journey began alongside the Paarman brothers in 2014 and 2016, where he smartly admired and worked to emulate Johnathan Paarman’s boat-building expertise,” Balance says. “When Roger Paarman, St Francis Factory Manager, asked him to join the team, he dived right in asking immediately, “Spirit woven through destiny?” Well, we think so.”
“His passion for woodworking blossomed at an early age, turning his first tool at the age of 10. Not only does he bring extensive experience as a cabinet maker but his long standing friendship with the Paarman family will help him quickly become an integral part of the close-knit team,” the newsletter says.
Balance says its workforce across its two factories is nearly 1 000 workers. “As our factory space expands, so do our teams. So many special and talented people! And they just keep on joining our teams,” the company says.
The Nexus yard recently expanded to accommodate the new production line, adding an additional 2000 m2 of factory space.
