Another year, another step up for Xquisite Yachts which is expanding its Portuguese production facility on the back of strong demand for its Xquisite 30 Sportcat.
The Sportcat seems likely to emulate the success of its cousin, the X5 Plus which is produced in Atlantis by Phoenix Catamarans. The upgraded Portuguese facility will build between six and twelve units per year, according to Xquisite chief executive Tamas Hamor. The sleek new model is also due to form an integral part of Xquisite’s new Catamaran Centre in the Bahamas where it will be used at Xquisite’s new sailing school. “We developed this model to become our training boat for our sailing school,” Hamor said.
The trailerable Sportcat is billed as a compact and sporty ‘ultimate sailing experience’, able to accommodate up to eight aboard, with a length of 9.25m, mast height of 13.2m, overall beam of 5.15m. “Very light weight construction, carbon beams, rotating carbon mast and high performance sails are part of the standard package and assures the sporty sailing experience,” Xquisite said in a model launch statement early last year. “The mini keels offer a convenient solution to navigate shallow waters while the optional dagger boards boost the performance even further,” the Company said.
