Rob Brennan has reason to feel bullish about 2024. The chief operating officer of St Francis Catamarans says years of hard work, in the wake of previous owner Duncan Lethbridge, is paying off in the form of a healthy order book. The Company has made huge strides with its 460 model and looks set for a busy year, having completed yard and production updates. Explains Brennan: “The last few years have been hectic building new moulds for the SF 460 and also revising our production processes. As an example we no longer use Gel Coat on any of our boats all are now sprayed with epoxy paint. We have also done major modifications in our moulding shop to incorporate Resin infusion in most major components.”
“It has been a gradual ramp up in production although we are still experiencing delays in delivery to us of certain critical materials & components particularly via sea freight. The situation in South African ports is cause for concern.”
The Company recently launched its latest SF 500 four-cabin version, with three more hull launches scheduled for the year. The next two builds are both SF 460 three-cabin version.
The new SF 460 includes new bow, coach roof and cockpit designs, as well as an updated interior layout and equipment list.
