Messe Fankfurt stalwart Kathryn Frew has stepped down as boatica Cape Town show director to join the BlueCape team on a part-time basis.
In addition Frew is starting her own events business after more than six years with Messe Frankfurt. “The time has come for me to embark on a new chapter in my career,” Frew announced in a social media post. “Effective from today, I will be transitioning from my current role to pursue two incredible opportunities.”
“Firstly, I will be joining the Blue Cape team – a prominent company supporting the ocean economy. Working part-time in this capacity, I am eager to bring my expertise to this new domain and to continue working with the maritime and boating sectors.”
“In addition to this, I will be stepping into the realm of entrepreneurship and undertaking a lifelong ambition of starting my own business. This new opportunity will allow me to explore my creativity and follow my passion for creating unforgettable experiences and providing exceptional event solutions,” Frew said.
She will continue to consult for Messe Frankfurt until the end of October to ensure a smooth transition in the build-up to the boatica Cape Town show and to “support the team to the best of my abilities,” Frew said.
“As I embrace these new challenges, I am excited about the potential for continued collaboration so please reach out and let’s chat about any future engagements,” she said.
Messe Frankfurt South African managing director Michael Dehn paid tribute to Frew’s contribution: “Your dedication and contributions to Boatica and AFS over the past six years have been invaluable, and we are grateful for the time you’ve spent with us,” Dehn commented in response to Frew’s announcement. “We are gradually bidding farewell and wishing you a smooth transition into your new ventures. And of course we are glad to have you around on the Marine side,” he said.
