The Ocean Sailing Association of Southern Africa has appointed two new directors to oversee the organisation’s multiple activities.  Michael Jacobs and Jackie Smit will join the current executive team made up of Michael Robinson, John Franklin, and Jennifer Crickmore-Thompson.

OSASA says the new directors bring a wealth of expertise and experience to their new role. “Michael Jacobs served three terms as commodore of Knysna Yacht Club, was an active member of the NSRI Lifeboat team for some 28 years, and is well-known as a guide for anyone wanting to enter the Knysna Heads,” OSASA says in their latest newsletter. “Mike has many contacts along the East Coast, and will be invaluable in liaising with coastal clubs in the Eastern Cape.”
“Jackie Smit is Richards Bay-based. She is a very successful past commodore of Zululand Yacht Club, and a well-connected personality in the cruising community, as well as the Zulu community and Zulu royal family. She has been responsible for many valuable ongoing transformation projects in this area,” the newsletter says.
