Richard Hardiman has come a long way since his radio days for KFM’s afternoon drive.
The popular DJ reinvented himself as an entrepreneur, with a bit of help from UCT’s Graduate School of Business. Using his new business skills Hardiman has developed an innovative aquatic drone called the WasteShark, which has been in use at the V&A Waterfront and at the Port of Rotterdam as part of a technology trial.
Hardiman is now taking the next step of raising capital for his business venture by listing his company RanMarine Technology on the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He says other listings will follow.
It’s a big milestone for the man who says he drew his inspiration from Disney movie WALL-E, about a small robot left behind on earth to clean up a post-apocalyptic human mess.
