ESCAPE CAT SKIPPER RESCUES DROWNING MAN AT V&A

A charter yacht skipper did double duty as a lifesaver at the V&A Waterfront following a near-fatal drowning incident, the National Sea Rescue Institute reported on March 5.

The skipper of V&A-based Escape Cat rescued a man who had fallen off the V&A quay. The skipper had responded to a NSRI Man-Overboard alert.  “The local charter and ferry boats in the area reacted to the MOB alert, and the skipper of the local cruise charter boat Escape Cat successfully rescued the man from the water,” the NSRI confirmed in a statement. “Upon arrival at the scene, NSRI medics conducted medical checks on the man and transported him to the hospital for further medical evaluation.”

“The NSRI commends the swift response of V&A security, the emergency services, local charter and ferry boats, and the crew of Escape Cat for their prompt and effective rescue efforts,” the statement said.
