New Cabin Model promises big things for Cape Town RIB specialists
You’ve seen the coronavirus graphs. You know the state of the JSE. Now for some good news.
Despite global pandemic gloom, Cape Town RIB specialists Gemini Marine have only one 2020 production slot left for their newly developed new Cabin model, the GEMINI 1060 Cabin RHIB. The company had to scrap their much-anticipated world launch of a boat that promises to make a huge impact on the world stage. But even that hasn’t dampened international interest as the model continues to garner sales. “We were lucky enough to sell another two of these models and with limited production (due to build time and complexity) we foresee that we only have one more production slot available for 2020,” said yard global sales and marketing manager Gerhard Neethling. “This is great news and shows a lot of confidence the market, our dealers and in our Gemini range of boats in particular,” Neethling said.
Prior to the coronavirus crisis the new model was due to be shipped to the company’s commercial partner, NOVI MARINE, for final fit-out and sea trials. It would also have featured in various European boat shows including the Seawork exhibition, Europe’s leading marine and commercial workboat exhibition. The model was specifically designed for the commercial and rescue markets, buoyed by market demand: “I think the leisure market has been hit the hardest but we are lucky to be mostly in the commercial and professional markets,” Neethling said. “I have actually seen a slight increase in requests for rescue and police/patrol type boats, and Africa also seems to be picking up despite everything around us,” he said.
“Personally, I am grateful that we at Gemini are so diverse and skilled in being able to cater to such an array of different markets,” Neethling added.
The Gemini GRP Cabin is designed and manufactured using the latest industry technology. Our construction is a Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP). It is an advanced manufacturing technique that uses vacuum pressure to drive the resin into the laminate. This eliminates over saturation of the composite material with resin. It ensures an even and consistent material thickness. It eliminates the possibility of voids between different construction materials such as the foam core and fiberglass. Our VIP ensures that a durable chemical bond is achieved across all substrates. All our fixtures and fittings like doors and windows are “ISO 9000/2015” compliant and or CE certified by the manufacturer.
